Rodent Trapping

Rodent Trapping

If you’ve had rodents in your home before, you know how easy it can be for them to break in. Not only rodent trapping ft lauderdalethat but getting them to leave is nearly impossible without the right tools and knowledge. Since rodents can get everything they need from your home, they won’t leave on their own accord. Three main kinds of rodents will try to make their way into your home, and each has a unique way you should go about trapping them.

Trapping Tactics

Before you can attempt to catch a rodent, you need to identify which kind it may be. The most common rodents you’ll see in your home are rats, squirrels, and mice.

  • Rats– Since rats are very aware of their surroundings, it can be harder to trap them even with rat-sized traps. The key is to place the traps in high-traffic areas to increase the chances of a successful trap. While some stores may promote the use of poison, it is never a good idea to use it if you are untrained or have pets or small children in the house.
  • Squirrels- Trapping squirrels on your own is not a good idea since laws surround the capture and removal of squirrels depending on where you are. There are a wide variety of humane traps used by professionals to capture squirrels and release them into a more suitable environment.
  • Mice: Normally, a traditional mousetrap will get the job done easily unless your mouse infestation is large. If the mousetraps work, remember you should still hire a professional to dispose of the carcasses properly.
